A statue to honor the Three Sisters and changes to the history curriculum of Quincy Public Schools are some of the promises
Members of the tribe’s Neponset band met with city officials for a recent harvest dinner to discuss a partnership with Quincy leadership.
Koch and Faries Gray, the chief of the Massachusett Tribe of Ponkapoag, came to an agreement.
Guests placed a wreath at the hummock, where the summer home of the Neponset band of the Massachusett people was located.
Koch said the city is trying to relocate the Learning Center, which is currently located in the building.
Koch also promised to incorporate Massachusetts history into the city’s tourism programming and the history curriculum of Quincy Public Schools.
“These people got hurt along the way, so we should honor their legacies,” he said.
